Goodies I bring home when I'm set loose in Ngee Ann City

Ngee Ann City in Orchard Road has been one of the mecca of brand name shopping in Singapore for many years. In recent years, the proliferation of brand names have afflicted food as well. So when I am let loose in Ngee Ann City, there'll be a good chance that I'll be home with a bag of goodies.

Down at the basement of Takashimaya shopping mall, you'll get lots of goodies from Japan. Here's a box of Juchhiem ...

... Juchheim Baumkuchen. This is Germany's version of Kueh Lapis, improved and made by Japanese.

Unlike the Kueh Lapis, the Baumkuchen is light, got no spice and ...

... it's made on a spit like this. Still it taste like steamed sponge cake 鸡蛋糕.

At the basement, Takashimaya will organise seasonal food fairs like the recent Spring of Hokkaido fair. Booths will be set up with the booth handlers peddling their products. Not unlike what you see at basements of shopping mall giants in Japan.

From one of the booths of the Spring of Hokkaido, I found the Mel Cheese from Patisserie Petite Merveille. Unfortunately, this is not available on a regular basis.

Inside the Mel Cheese box are original flavor bite size cheese cakes.

These bite size cheese cakes are rich and have melt-in-your-mouth texture. It's definitely a dessert that entices second servings.

Just beside the entrance into Takashimaya's food mall, there's the Petit Donut from Sapporo, Hokkaido.

Each donut is as small as a 50 cents coin. There's assorted flavors filled inside the donut. Some of the available flavors are maple syrup, chocolate, custard and many others.

Up on the third floor of Ngee Ann City, there's Paul bakery that bring top quality French bread and pastry. Here's the Flute Sesame, that I got from Paul Bakery. I can skip the rest of the fancifuls in the boulangerie but not their signature flutes. The fragrance of the sesame made the baguette more aromatic than it already is.
